In 2025, nine Black and brown families purchased homes with support from Own It, bringing us to 27 families total who have become homeowners through this work. For many, this is the first holiday season they’ll spend in a home of their own.
This matters because homeownership remains one of the most powerful tools for building generational wealth, and because the real estate system was never designed to operate equitably. Own It exists to directly address those inequities. We are unapologetic about the work we do and committed to changing how the system operates, not just helping people navigate it.
These closings happened because a community of people believed change was possible. Your financial support fuels our education program, one-on-one mentoring, and $19,000 down payment grants with no payback required. Together, we are expanding access, shifting systems, and helping families claim what has too often been out of reach.
